WE HAVE A WINNER! — Ebay Bootie Denouement

January 3, 2014

Holy moly I was so excited to write this blog post last night that I hardly slept.

I am EXTREMELY excited to announce that I am officially the proud owner of the below pair of Rag & Bone Harrow Booties.

SnipIt BootiesI watched these puppies for almost a week.

After checking Ebay in almost all of my spare time, I finally discovered a pair of 38s (size 8) — I decided against my normal 7.5 size after reading several reviews recommending to go up 1/2 a size — for a record price of $280. I was ecstatic to say the least.

I didn’t even post about finding these booties because I was nervous that someone may see them and outbid me. Freak.

As the final hours of bidding came to a close yesterday, I enlisted the help of my trusty husband Wilson to complete the actual bidding. I was afraid I’d get too nervous and clam up. And with 23 people watching this item, there was a lot to lose. But not to worry, Wilson’s Ebay prowess had its finest moment when it came down to the last few seconds. Please look at the bidding history — Wilson is besomebody86. This shit was down to the last second.

Booties Bid History Whole Screenn***h had no idea who he/she was up against. I don’t think I’ve witnessed something this cutthroat or exciting since Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’ 72-day marriage.

For a total of $374, I bought a pair of the Harrow booties which originally retail for $495.

There are two lessons to be learned here:

1. Ebay is the BOMB and should always be used as a trusted resource for discounted items.

2. If you really want something, you must find a way to get it. Perseverance is the new black.

While $374 is still a lot to pay for shoes — shouldn’t they at least fold my laundry? — I will treasure this pair of shoes for the $121 I saved from buying them for full price and also for the diligence Wilson exhibited in last night’s glorious bidding war. It was a demonstration of true bargain hunting and I think I fell in love with him even more after we won. Our plastic fork budget is the glue that bonds this marriage together.
