How to Speak Southern

Blankets, Baby!

November 22, 2013

My sister recently had another baby girl, Reece. She is so beautiful, and my family and I are so happy to be blessed with this second little miracle. Her older sister, Ella Grace, is the second love of my life to Wilson, so I am beyond thrilled to have another niece.

To celebrate this wonderful little miracle, I wanted to get her a very special and unique gift. I cannot wait to give her this blanket Wilson’s cousin Margaret made.

Margaret is the creator and owner of Margaret Turner Designs, a company she started to create scarves and blankets with screen prints of seashells that she finds. Yes, that’s correct, she finds the shells and then has them screen-printed onto the fabric in a beautiful combination of colors. It’s brilliant and so dang creative.

And because I can’t let my original baby niece and godchild Ella Grace hanging, I got her one too.

Also being monogrammed. I love them.

The blankets are made from organic cotton so not only is it super soft, but also easy on sensitive — baby — skin. Each blanket is $60, so it is a good price point for a creative and useful baby present. I highly recommend, my sister swears you cannot have enough baby blankets.

Here’s some more photos of her fantastic wares…

These are some of her scarves, I have two and they are wide enough to be able to use/wrapped many ways. That’s an important scarf element in my opinion. Your baby outgrows many things but I don’t think she’ll outgrow this beautiful blanket.

In short, both Margaret’s scarves and blankets make great gifts, so check her out. I love supporting something well-priced, local and authentic. To follow along her hunt for new fabulous shells, visit her blog The Hunter and The Gatherer.

Is it happy hour yet?
